Demon Records are delighted to announce the release of Haircut 100% Live! Hammersmith Odeon Spring 1982 for Record Store Day 2023, released with full co-operation of the band. Haircut 100% Live! Hammersmith Odeon Spring 1982 is an in-concert album that highlights the group at the summit of their powers – high speed funk, to-die for pop and sweet melodies against the backdrop of Haircutmania. No overdubs and the high-octane energy of youth. The group moved from being London underground darlings to chart sensations in less than six months, and within a year had disappeared into pop’s ether, leaving behind one memorable album and four Top 10 UK singles, but many have said that the real way to experience the power of the Haircuts was to see them play live.
Pressed on zinging translucent red vinyl, Haircut 100% Live! Hammersmith Odeon Spring 1982 is an absolute must for all fans of frenetic funky fabulous melodic pop. This recently unearthed recording was part of the acclaimed Pelican West 40 CD set.
It includes their cover version of set opener Low Rider by War, where the group all appeared on stage one-by-one. Inner bag contains snapshots taken at the Hammersmith gig and after show on 1 April 1982 from guitarist Graham Jones’ personal archive. Mastered by Phil Kinrade at AIR Mastering.

A one man band born in the mid 70’s in Detroit, MI, The Happy Dragon Band is the brain child of Thomas Court. A studio wiz, synth pioneer and electronic music professor. After releasing one private press LP he went on to other pursuits and the obligatory obscurity followed. This is truly a one of a kind mashup of early analog synths, Floydian psych ballads, and even some proto new wave and reggae. The record will be getting its first ever reissue and wide release for Record Store Day 2023, and is limited to 1,000 copies worldwide.

The title of this Record Store Day 2023 release, Give Way, is a nod to the Australian counterpart to the United States’ yield sign.

In 1984, Robert Diggs, now known as RZA, formed a rap group with his cousins Russell Jones and Gary Grice which they called “All In Together Now”. Diggs and Grice then signed with Jamaica Records for management purposes and Jamaica convinced Tommy Boy Records to sign Diggs as a solo artist under the name Prince Rakeem in 1989. “Ooh I Love You Rakeem” was released as a single but Diggs was subsequently dropped by Tommy Boy Records, and later went on to form the Wu Tang Clan. This remastered, colored, single contains the track title, “Sexcapades” & “Deadly Venoms” and was initially released in 1991.

In short order, the young Nashville band has risen from humble beginnings playing the Nashville house party scene and DIY art gatherings to performing at festivals like Bonnaroo and Forecastle and sharing bills with the likes of Rostam and Cold War Kids.
With ‘Wait,’ Arlie make good on the potential exhibited on their early singles. Lead single “barcelona boots” is a swirl of washed-out synths and Banks’ yearning falsetto, while “too long” is a sighing ballad underpinned with psychedelic atmospherics. On the EP's closer -- the tropical, hazy “tossing and turning” -- Arlie turns a self-deprecating eye on a superficial generation so fixated on projecting a lifestyle that they miss out on living the actual life.

In 1968 The Rolling Stones returned to their blues roots on Beggars Banquet, which was immediately acclaimed as one of their landmark achievements. A strong acoustic Delta blues flavor colors much of the material, particularly “Prodigal Son” and “No Expectations.” Basic rock n’ roll is not forgotten with “Street Fighting Man” and “Sympathy For The Devil.” The lyrical bite of the material ensured the album’s place as one of the top blues-based records of all time.
Exclusive to Record Store Day 2023, this LP is pressed on grey, blue, black and white swirl vinyl as an ode to the lyric “a swirling mass of grey, blue, black and white,” from “Salt Of The Earth,” as performed in The Rolling Stones Rock And Roll Circus. Featuring the original album artwork and an original window display poster.
The first authorized concert album from the 1980s San Francisco new wave /post-punk band, captured during the months when the band was recording its debut album, It's a Condition. This crucial document provides a snapshot of the band that would soon win notoriety with the MTV hits "Never Say Never" and "A Girl in Trouble (Is a Temporary Thing)."

A 2xLP set of rare, early Hüsker Dü live recordings, featuring original flyers and artwork. Drawn from the historical Hüsker Dü recording archives compiled by Terry Katzman, this double disc live set is an essential companion piece to the band's Savage Young Du Box Set. While the SYD release principally featured studio demos, the 28 tracks presented here are the aural and enchanting equivalent of a time machine that vividly thrusts the listener straight back to Husker Du's embryonic unsheathing on stage.
Side A dates to July 1979. Side B gives us a full year's evolution to July 1980, while Sides C and D land the listener in September 1980. Perhaps 120 people in total saw these three Longhorn performances. Until now, a handful at most have heard the playbacks. So, rare and fresh, it's all here: the songs, the driven performances, the small club intimacy of being in front of select friends, fans, and peers, with one fair shot at getting it right. These four sides compellingly document that you can't doubt that they did.

Harry Whitaker is a piano player, producer and arranger who at the age of 26 recorded Black Renaissance "Body, Mind, and Spirit," a holy grail amongst collectors of soul-jazz and rare groove, and an album so rare it's virtually a myth to many.
Made up of two long tracks that periodically build and release for forty minutes over two sides of an LP it's an improvised masterpiece combining Afrocentric spiritual soul, jazz, poetry, amazing solos, a tasty bass line or two and more than a fair share of funky beats. It's also one of the earliest jazz albums to feature rapping. "I called the project Black Renaissance because that is what I wanted to see happen - especially in music. I describe it as Dixieland circa 1976 - by the end of the songs everyone is playing together."
Given its rarity, when asked if he was surprised that people knew about the album Whitaker jokes "I've told enough people about it over the years! Now they can actually hear it. It was a record before it's time. It's not a commercial release - I think of it as classical. You can call it jazz, but it's free, it's got African roots, it's for people who people who dig that sound."
Harry Whitaker has enjoyed a successful career as a producer, arranger and composer, cutting his teeth on the best of the Roy Ayers Ubiquity releases and making a living working closely with Roberta Flack - as her musical director, even playing on her big Eugene McDaniels' written hit "I Feel Like Makin' Love." Black Renaissance "Body, Mind, and Spirit," was his first attempt at a project where he wrote and composed the music and played keys on both tracks.
Originally released in 1977 and highly considered as one of the grail titles in the Spiritual Jazz, Jazz-Funk canon. Reissued by Luv N'Haight in 2002 with a limited pressing. This repress on black vinyl will be exclusive to RSD.

Ultramagnetic MCs are back.
Known for their abstract and futuristic style, Kool Keith and Ced Gee pioneered the New York Hip-Hop sound in the ‘80s alongside contemporaries such as KRS One and LL Cool J, before disbanding in the mid 1990s. Bolstering a long, genre-spanning solo career Kool Keith cemented his legacy in the Hip-Hop, Punk and Electronic music circles with thematic albums under aliases such as Dr. Octagon, Dr. Dooom and Black Elvis, while Ced Gee stayed mostly behind the scenes providing production work for iconic artists including The Prodigy and Lee "Scratch" Perry. Backing the legendary duo is Nashville-based oddball band THETAN, who provided the entire instrumentation for the recent Kool Keith collaborative album 'Space Goretex'.
This 12” single offers up two brand new tracks of spaced out funky hip hop. The B-side is emblazoned with an etching of the Ultramagnetic MCs logo, engraved by none other than Dan Emery at Black Matter Mastering.

The cinematic concert event Digital Ghost showcases the incredible musicianship and vocal ability of Underoath. This live experience takes the fan track-by-track through the entire Voyeurist album and provides an emotional journey that has so uniquely defined the band over their incredible career. “The album concept came out of the larger idea that everything is a manipulation…from the news to social media to how you present yourself, even to the people closest to you. Everything is part truth and part fiction. We wanted to strip Underoath back down to exclusively truth and cut out all distractions – and made the record on our own along with our engineer JJ Revel. The result is Voyeurist.” Pressed on Sangria-colored vinyl for Record Store Day 2023.
