VOLBEAT emerged from Copenhagen in 2001. Since then, they’ve tirelessly clawed their way to hard rock’s upper echelon with endless touring and a string of six beloved full-length albums. Recently, their 2010 album Beyond Hell/Above Heaven, which features hit singles “A Warrior’s Call” and “Heaven Nor Hell,” received RIAA Gold Certification. 2013’s Outlaw Gentlemen & Shady Ladies bowed at #9 on the Billboard Top 200 upon release marking the highest U.S. chart entry for a Danish Act since 1997.
‘High Expectations’ is that rare record which feels both like a graduation and, also, just the beginning for Mabel. The twice-Brit-nominated singer and songwriter has already sold over 3 million singles in the UK (two platinum, three gold, and two silver), surpassed 1 billion streams, and sold out the likes of Brixton Academy. Across her formative singles and first long-form project, ‘Ivy To Roses’, Mabel has written with startling honesty on young love, identity, girl power, and mental health – knowing full-well that she would make her debut album only when she was ready. And on that road to her first record, Mabel’s music has become a soundtrack – for her impassioned young female fanbase, but also for herself – on how to turn those vulnerabilities into your advantages. Now poised to join the pantheon of international pop greats, her tireless energy, positivity and drive will never allow Mabel to settle for anything less than ‘High Expectations’. In 2019, watch Mabel meet them and keep reaching higher still.
Run Home Slow is the sophomore album from The Teskey Brothers. The Australian band are two brothers (Josh and Sam Teskey) and their friends Liam Gough and Brendon Love. Onstage the band is as tight as any in the game, bringing horns and keys into the fray to deliver a show that soars and dives with masterful control. It's anyone's guess how far The Teskey Brothers are going to take their music but all indications so far suggest the love will go deep and wide around the world for this special combo.
Los Angeles Alternative band Grizfolk's new album Rarest Of Birds is an ode to Southern California classic rock with a 2019 spin. Dynamic, upbeat, and dreamy, "Believing" may be the best representation of the album.
When Francis Lung describes his new album as sounding like a short Mancunian boy single-handedly trying to incite Beatlemania hes really not too far wide of the mark. Released later this Summer, Lungs much-anticipated debut album A Dream Is U is both bold and enthusiastic, a kaleidoscopic journey informed by the greats but also one that is wonderfully enigmatic, the sound of a multi-instrumentalist tying together all manner of influences into one beautifully cohesive album.Following on from the home-recorded Volumes 1 + 2 EPs, which contained titbits written during his time in Wu Lyf, A Dream Is U is the first fully-realised Francis Lung record, a studio undertaking brought to life with producer Brendan Williams (Dutch Uncles, GoGo Penguin), a colourful patchwork of vision and ingenuity. Before we started recording I knew exactly what the arrangements were in my head Francis says, reflecting on the time spent devising his new work. It was kind of my mission to capture everything as it was in my imagination. Touching upon the universal themes of addiction, faith, and love in all of its confusion, A Dream Is U is a collection of characters and stories that plays out something like a Harvey Pekar comic strip; an obsessive chronicle of daily lives twisted into new shapes by the unique mind and manners of their narrator. With flashes of striking colour and an ever-present wry smile, Francis Lung has created a debut album that drifts between simple acceptance and exuberant yearning for more. My favourite part is when it talks about escaping to another universe, Francis says of one song in particular, Unnecessary Love. Although its a doomed and impossible dream, its amusing to me that if we survive long enough it could be a real possibility. At times boisterous and radiant, elsewhere contemplative and brooding, A Dream Is U feels like being awake in dreams, like stepping outside of the daily rotation; like shadows leaving their dancing bodies to waltz away to their own tune.
Crafting honestly poetic, passionate and powerful songs, Nashville-Indie duo, The Harmaleighs (composed of Haley Grant and Kaylee Jasperson) forthcoming project 'She Won’t Make Sense' is a concept album about mental illness (Mania, Depression and Anxiety) experienced by band member Haley Grant.
LETTUCE is (a) the prime ingredient in a salad, (b) a slang for cash, (c) a green herb that can be smoked, (d) a genre-busting six-member funk/jazz/soul/jam/psychedelic/hip-hop/art-rock/ambient/ avant-garde/experimental collective formed in 1992 by four alumni of the prestigious Berklee College Of Music, or (e) all of the above.
This long sought-after release celebrates the 50th anniversary of Woodstock, by giving fans a front-row seat to relive CCR’s stirring, hour-long set as it was performed that historic night in August of 1969. Kicking off with “Born on the Bayou,” the album features the band’s biggest singles of the day, plus selections off their first three LPs, including “Commotion,” “Ninety-Nine and a Half (Won’t Do)” and “Bootleg.” Full of creative energy, John, Tom, Stu, and Doug delve deep into their music, playing extended improvisations of “I Put a Spell on You,” “Keep on Chooglin’” and “Suzie Q.”
First Taste is, as the title implies, a visceral shot of new flavor from Ty Segall. The followup to last January's extroverted Freedom's Goblin, First Taste cross-fertilizes Ty's antisocial side (think: Emotional Mugger) with the wide-ranging humanism of Manipulator and the pop zazz of the aforementioned Goblin. This means an immaculate sequence of sides with Ty playing multiple parts with and without contributions from the Freedom Band. Ty's songwriting confidence is at an apex, and he moves from style to style, evoking directions in rock, lite pop, experimental, alternative and even afrobeat! Ty at 12 (albums) = his best yet?
"The limit is the sky!” That's not just a quote from furious opening track 'Soundtrack Of My Life' – it`s also a self-fulfilling prophecy in the case of The New Roses! The German band has recently supported the Scorpions and got invited by rock gods KISS to their very own cruise, but with fourth album Nothing But Wild they actually climb the rock Olympus themselves. Total pretension? Then you haven`t heard the killer melody carrying 'Down By The River', the sizzling 80s licks of the title track or the rugged ballad 'The Bullet'. Nothing But Wild simply is the ultimate love letter to US rock – and the real deal.
Zerfall sees Black Forest Metal act FINSTERFORST return to the serious and elegiac soundscapes of classics as Mach Dich Frei (2015) on their fifth studio album, instead of the stylistic intermezzo of predecessor #YOLO (2016). The Germans` emotional brand of post black metal gives vent to endless rage with pounding riffs and astonishing orchestral elements (”Wut”) – and then flows into the somber choirs of the title track. The centerpiece and culmination of it all has to be the 36-minute long (!) “Ecce Homo” though that unfolds into a majestic post metal journey crowning FINSTERFORST’s songwriting career so far. A complex and mature piece of art that will mesmerize old and new fans alike.
An institution in their homeland, a two-album wonder in the U.S., and, during the last half of their ten-year career, bona fide stars in the U.K. and most of Europe, Crowded House recorded some of the best pop music of the late '80s and early '90s. Leader Neil Finn's carefully crafted songs, meticulous eye for lyrical detail, and gift for melody are matched by few other songwriters. The songs of Crowded House & Neil s songwriting acclaim have been championed by the biggest names in music. The 2010 chart-topping compilation features all the band s major hits including 'Fall At Your Feet', 'Weather With You' & 'Don't Dream It's Over' plus many (many) more. The 19-track collection is cut across 2 x 180-gram black vinyl LPs featuring printed inners & essay.

With their latest album Blood Year, Russian Circles forsake the sonic crossroads of divergent musical paths found on albums like Guidance and Memorial to offer up the most direct and forceful collection of songs in their discography. With guitarist Mike Sullivan, drummer Dave Turncrantz and bassist Brian Cook all residing in different states, Russian Circles have typically crafted their albums by piecing together song fragments and home recordings into meticulous texture-rich studio productions. But after seven tours in North American and five trips to Europe in support of 2016's Guidance, the band made a conscious effort to approach the songs on Blood Year with the same organic feel of a live show. In an age where rock records are often built on a computerized grid, Russian Circles chose to track the foundations of the songs together in one room as complete takes without click tracks. While it retains the dexterity, multi-faceted techniques, and dramatic compositions that have been a trademark of Russian Circles since day one, Blood Year fully embraces the most forceful aspects of the bands repertoire. The Album was expertly captured by Kurt Ballou at Electrical Audio in Chicago, the world-famous recording studio where they'd tracked Enter, Geneva, and Memorial.
Following the release of her critically acclaimed sophomore album, 'First Flower', last October, Texan chanteuse Molly Burch returns with two heart-stopping tracks. Entitled 'Ballads' in homage to the strong and powerful female vocalists that she admires, this 7" EP embodies what Burch loves to do and what she does best: crafting music with emotion, drama and romance, giving her voice all the room it needs to burn bright.
Celebrating the 50th anniversary of America's first festival dedicated to the blues. Featuring previously unheard performances by B.B. King, Mississippi Fred McDowell, Howlin' Wolf, Muddy Waters, Son House, Big Mama Thornton and more!
Beginning with 2013's Tenboom, the staunchly DIY pair Penny & Sparrow released a series of critically lauded records that garnered comparisons to the hushed intimacy of Iron & Wine and the adventurous beauty of James Blake, building up a devoted fanbase along the way through relentless touring and word-of-mouth buzz. NPR praised the band s songwriting as a delicate dance between heartache and resolve, while The World Café raved that they ve steadily built a sound as attentive to detail as Simon & Garfunkel and as open to the present day as Bon Iver. Penny & Sparrow's magnificent sixth album Finch is titled as a nod to Charles Darwin, who developed his theory of evolution in part by studying the changes that manifested over time in groups of birds that moved to different islands across the Galapagos, and it's easy to see the connection. The album finds the band reckoning with a prolonged period of intense personal transformation, a profound awakening that altered their perceptions of masculinity, sex, religion, divorce, friendship, vanity, purpose, and, perhaps most importantly, self. Deeply vulnerable and boldly cinematic, the resulting songs blur the lines between indie-folk and alt-pop, with dense string arrangements and atmospheric production underpinning soaring melodies and airtight harmonies. It's a revelatory collection, both for the listener and the performers, one that s been a lifetime in the making.

Following their acclaimed Nérija EP, Domino are very happy to share Blume, the debut album from Nérija. Recorded in Soup Studio, Blume sees Nérija – comprised of contemporary jazz luminaries, Nubya Garcia (tenor saxophone), Sheila Maurice-Grey (trumpet), Cassie Kinoshi (alto saxophone), Rosie Turton (trombone), Shirley Tetteh (guitar), Lizy Exell (drums) and Rio Kai (bass) - build upon their effortlessly beautiful sound and compositional style, sprawling in scope and depth, confirming their position as one of the most exciting bands to have come from London in recent years. Blume is a truly breath-taking collection of compositions that perfectly encapsulates everything Nérija; vibrant, engaging, infectious and truly current. It certainly is a London thing and a whole lot more.
SUGAR DROPS is the first album on Red House Records from Davina and the Vagabonds and marks the first time singer/songwriter/pianist Davina Sowers entered a proper studio to record an album. The Minneapolis-based artist holed up in Nashville's Compass Sound Studio with producer (and Compass Records co-founder) Garry West, along with her trumpeter, string arranger and husband, Zack Lozier, and a rotating cast of powerhouse players including Todd Phillips (David Grisman, Robbie Fulks) on bass, Doug Lancio (Patty Griffin, John Hiatt, Tom Jones) on guitar and Reese Wynans (Stevie Ray Vaughan, Joe Bonamassa) on Hammond B3. SUGAR DROPS is distillation of bluesy barroom baritone and bravado, graveyard jazz grooves, and noir-ish confessional lyricism backed by boisterous piano, guitar, and strings. Eclectic, engaging and instilled with a deep respect and knowledge for the Great American Songbook, SUGAR DROPS is the actualization of longstanding intent for Davina. "It represents about 100 years of Americana; I did exactly what I wanted to do," she says. Davina and the band are constantly on the road, touring throughout the world they've earned feverish acclaim from the Chicago Tribune, NPR, and more in addition to performing on BBC's international favorite late-night program Later... with Jools Holland and appearing on PBS's Bluegrass Underground.
